Culturx's Welcome Post-Cards: A Warm Embrace and Practical Tool for London's Latin Newcomers

Immigrating to a new country can be difficult, and getting settled in can be even harder. Luckily, the city of London has many community groups that welcome new immigrants and can help newcomers feel connected to their new home. One of these community organizations is Culturx, a fully volunteer-run non-profit, who has created a platform for the Latin community to get together, have a space to support each other, share ideas and celebrate.

On top of their many special projects and programs, the organization has also created Welcome Post-Cards for newcomers to London. These cards are a friendly ‘welcome to our community’ from Culturx and they also double as a resource that immigrants might need when settling. One of the volunteers noted that when newcomers first arrive, a lot of places ask for proof of residence, so that you can request certain documents and services. They decided to create a postcard that welcomes folks, but that can also be used in a practical way to get them started. They can be used as proof of residence when accessing Service Ontario services, banking services and much more. These cards were created last November, and they are free to order.

We are all enriched by the presence of newcomers in our community. By making them feel welcome, we make our community stronger and more vibrant. Thank you to Culturx, who makes all Latin newcomers feel welcome in our community. Such efforts help to create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone involved. All people from different cultures and backgrounds are invited to participate in their celebrations and conversations.
